A labyrinth of high altitude mountains, the population is located at 773 meters. All the valleys converge sooner or later in the Garciaz River, which acts as a funnel. There are a large number of bridges, many of old factory.<\/p>\n

The mountains are filled with a thick forest of oaks, cork oaks and holm oaks, as well as chestnut trees. Where the slope stops, the fertile lands will be an inexhaustible manna for livestock and scarce agriculture,
with plenty of pasture for cows and sheep, that the goats go up the mountain and take advantage of endless resources.

The Ways of Guadalupe are the historical pilgrimage routes to Guadalupe. Guadeloupe as an important pilgrimage center attracted from its beginnings a multitude of people from different parts of Spain and Portugal. Your idea of Extremadura changes radically when you arrive in Garciaz. Nothing of what you imagined is worth among the endless mountain gorges in our path. A complex system of valleys directs its waters to the north, searching for the Tagus River.<\/p>\n
What we can contemplate today in the town is a portrait of a mountain village, medieval in its oldest neighborhoods and that takes us to the beginning of the twentieth century, with magnificent examples of a magnificent architecture.

Nature is what you can find in Garciaz; a Biodiversity that extends to all cardinal points, reaching every fold of the municipality.<\/p>\n
Part of it is within the Site of Community Interest “L.I.C. Sierra de Cabeza del \u00c1guila”. Recognition of the natural environment is implicit in other quality brands such as the Ibores Cheese Designation of Origin and the Honey Designation of Origin.

The human presence in these areas has been proven since ancient times, with details of great relevance that are a reference in the history, not only of Extremadura. But it will be the Iron Age the most generous in remains scattered throughout the term and its surroundings. They are known as Castros or Castillejos.<\/p>\n
The passage of the cordel will be an escape route for all those who do not want to, or cannot, pass through Trujillo. Although in the town and in the church there are some early medieval remains, it will be after the last battle for Trujillo that we have evidence of the existence of the town.

The landscape reminds us of latitudes much further north in Spain: all these high altitude places are filled with a dense forest of life. A green blanket seems to take over practically all the land. The holm oak, the cork oak and the oak with the chestnut tree, are sharing the spaces, each one adapting itself to the ecosystems that favor it the most.
