May Cross

The Cross of May used to be celebrated on May 3, but nowadays it is celebrated on the first Sunday of the month. The Cristo de la Salud is venerated with a novena in which “Las Llagas” is sung, procession and solemn mass.

In the past, capeas were held in the main square for three days. The image of the Crucified Christ is especially devoted to. It is the image that goes out in procession on days of extreme drought to ask for rainwater.

The procession of the Shepherd Child was also celebrated on Ascension Thursday. It ceased to be celebrated in 1981, passing the acts to the day that is dedicated to the celebration of the Communion of children. On Corpus Christi Thursday, a procession is held in which the monstrance with the Blessed Sacrament under a canopy is carried by the brothers of the Brotherhood of the Blessed Sacrament and accompanied by children dressed for their First Communion.
The streets of the municipality are decorated with flowers, bedspreads and shawls. Also, on Octave Sunday, at the end of the procession, a bidding was held with the offerings that had been collected.
