Garciaz Dam was built in 1994 on the bed of the Arroyo Los Maruelos, in the municipality of Garciaz, Extremadura, Extremadura, Spain.
Garciaz / Los Maruelos Dam is a gravity dam with a straight plant and 3 spans. It has a height from foundations of 19.750 m and a crest length of 116.91 m. Its crowning width is 3.15 m. Its spillway has a fixed central lip with a length of 15 m, a design flow of 38.1 m3/s and restitution to the river is by means of a stilling basin.
How to get there
The Garciaz Reservoir can be accessed from the town, at the Town Hall take the street Calle Los
Perales, then Las Manzanas street and then Burgos street. We continue along a small street between olive trees until we reach the bridge over the stream. We continue for about 3 km. and take the detour to the right, which after 500 m. leads us to the dam.
